THE RETURNING LIGHT

Susan Elaine Smith

Enter a space where colour speaks the language of the soul and the canvas becomes a vessel of Light. Each painting emerges through an intuitive process as a Prescription of Light. It can be entered as a meditation, a doorway to limitless becoming.

72 Names of God

Hidden within the story of the Red Sea in the Book of Exodus are seventy-two triplets of Hebrew letters. For centuries, they have been used in the Kabbalistic tradition as contemplative doorways into states of consciousness.

Painting titled Parallel Universes (Hei Yud Yud). A pale blue centre shimmers before the eye, a matrix of purples, yellows and pinks pulsating outwards through parallel universes. A translucent infinity symbol weaves through the painting, while a bold orange arc channels the eye back towards the centre. A meditation on a reality where timelines converge, and love heals all.

Hei Yud Yud — Where Love Heals All Timelines

Painting titled The Holy of Holies – The Veil of Shame (Hei Hei Hei). A deep violet void occupies the centre of the composition, surrounded by sweeping concentric layers of cobalt blue, ultramarine and luminous turquoise. Broad gestural brushstrokes circle the darkness, while heavy drips descend from the centre, suggesting the slow dissolution of what has long been hidden. The painting is a meditation on meeting the veil of shame with compassion, revealing the light that has always been present.

Painting titled Revelations (Ayin Lamed Mem – Beyond the Veil of Perception). Layers of deep indigo, teal, turquoise and violet give way to an expanding field of radiant white, gold and luminous pink. Brightly coloured marks are scattered throughout the composition, while delicate lines, splatters and swirling forms dissolve into an atmosphere of illumination. The painting is a meditation on seeing beyond the veil of perception.

Painting titled Time Travel (Yud Hei Yud). A burst of light radiates from a pale blue centre. Shards of yellow paint spread outwards into a multi-coloured universe; a patchwork of pinks, violets, magenta and green. The painting became an act of personal and collective transmutation—a way to transform unconscious actions of the past into conscious choice in the present. A meditation on how the past can set us free.

Vav Hei Vav — How the Past Sets You Free

Painting titled Sacred Sparks (Yud Lamed Yud). A soft pink light radiates from the centre, delicate layers of coral pink, pastel orange and luminous white weaving through a richly layered field of deep purples, indigo blues and forest greens. Brightly coloured sparks of crimson, cadmium yellow, burnt orange and pale blue burst outwards from the centre in every direction. A meditation on the return of the soul's hidden sacred sparks.

Yud Lamed Yud — Returning Light to the Soul

Painting titled DNA of the Soul (Aleph Kaf Aleph). A glowing Hebrew Name radiates from a luminous golden centre, delicate white tendrils of light emanating in every direction. Rich layers of vivid green, deep indigo, black, cobalt blue, and bright orange weave together, animating the surface with the energy of creation. The painting asks you to remember your original light.

Zohar

The Zohar is regarded as one of the great mystical texts of the Kabbalah. Its Aramaic letters are understood not only to convey wisdom but to embody spiritual light itself.

Painting titled The Prayer – Releasing All Judgment. Soft luminous layers of pale green, cream, turquoise, blush pink and warm gold create an atmospheric field of light, threaded with delicate gestural marks and translucent circular forms. Lines of Aramaic text from the Zohar appear throughout the composition in white, sky blue, rose pink, orange, bright yellow and lavender, floating gently within the painted surface as though emerging from the light itself. Fine calligraphic lines and sweeping brushstrokes weave through the background, creating a sense of quiet movement and spaciousness. The painting is a meditation on the Zohar's prayer of absolution, inviting the release of judgement through divine compassion and the awakening of the heart to love.

The Prayer

The Two Gardens – Cleansing the Soul. A whirlwind of blazing yellow, dusky pink and lush greens forms the foundation of this garden. Expressive, tender brushstrokes move through pale blues, lime green and vibrant cadmium orange, suffusing the painting with a quiet sense of healing. Rich pigments capture intangible moments, while subtle layers of white, light blue and pale violet reveal the unfolding of a soul's long history within the creative act itself. The painting is a meditation on the gentle release of what has long been carried.

The Two Gardens — Being in Eden

Painting titled The World to Come – Secrets of Resurrection. Luminous fields of radiant yellow, soft pink, pale turquoise, lavender and white merge across the canvas in a flowing atmosphere of colour and light. Delicate gestural brushstrokes flow across translucent layers, while fine splashes of cerulean blue paint and swirling white forms create a gentle sense of movement between two luminous realms. Vibrant passages of rose pink emerge from the surrounding light. The painting is a meditation on the soul's journey between worlds, inviting contemplation of transformation, continuity and the Light that accompanies every transition.

Sacred Circle

At every threshold, we seek a companion for the soul. Someone who meets us where we are, bears witness to our transformation, and reminds us what lies beyond the door.

Soul Signatures

Homeopathy is a medicine for mind, body, and soul. Every remedy carries its own energetic signature, a particular pattern of consciousness. Soul Signatures are visual maps of those unseen patterns.

Soul Signature: Arsenicum, a standing figure with a red cross and flower at his chest beneath a pink heart and radiating rays with a twisting double-helix ribbon above, on a canvas split between a storm-grey left side and bright yellow right side, joined by a pale blue river running through both.

The Guardian of Truth — Arsenicum

Soul Signature: Pulsatilla, a standing female figure beneath a glowing yellow heart within a moon-like circle, on a canvas split between deep purple with red crabs and gold flowers on the left, and soft lilac with pale blooms on the right, joined by a winding blue ribbon.

The Nurturer — Pulsatilla

Soul Signature: Natrum Muriaticum, a standing female figure with arms crossed beneath a pink heart between red and green gems and radiating pink and gold rays, on a canvas split between deep black scattered with white marks on the left and vivid green with golden pods and floating orbs on the right, joined by a winding blue ribbon.

MEDICINE FOR THE SOUL

“Painting is prayer in motion. A direct channel to the higher dimensions—where the invisible becomes visible, and the soul remembers itself.”
